Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (DOA5LR) is the next version of DOA5 after Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (DOA5U). Previously, it was said to be released in Spring next year. Now, the official release dates have been announced by Team NINJA as follow:
- United States: 17 February 2015
- Japan: 19 February 2015
- Europe: 20 February 2015
DOA5LR will be released for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. For PS4/Xbox One, there will be a retail (disc) version and a digital download version. For PS3, there will be both retail and digital versions for Japan only and just the digital version for the rest of the world. Xbox 360 will only get digital version anywhere.

So, current DOA5U players can either just update their game for free and continue to play as whatever characters or costumes they have already bought and still be able to fight against DOA5LR players online. Or, they can pay an upgrade fee and get to play as the new characters and costumes in DOA5LR.
On top of these versions, there will also be a Core Fighters version for PS4 and Xbox One. PS4 Core Fighters will be a free download and includes 4 playable characters. You can expand the game by paying for more characters and costumes. Xbox One Core Fighters will cost a small fee but includes 8 playable characters and is expandable as well.
And then there are two more premium versions – a Collector’s Edition and a “Strongest Package”, which are however, only available in Japan and maybe some Asian countries, such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. Players in the US and Europe will get bonus DLC costumes if they pre-order the game.
