Valentine’s Day costumes for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (DOA5LR) has been released 4 days ahead of schedule and ahead of Valentine’s Day itself. It makes more sense to release this costume set before the actual day then after as originally planned.
[Updated 13 Feb] For some reasons, the PS4 version for US and Europe will only be released on the original date: 16th February.
This costume set is actually a swimsuit pack in disguise, as the Japanese name is called “Sweet Sexy Costumes”. The thing is, the girls are actually wearing a bikini underneath a maid apron. And for the first time in a long time, the guys are getting some swimwear. The last time male characters get anything close is in 2013 with the Fighter Pack.
The “disguise” part is that costumes of the female characters are destructible. To be specific, it is actually the maid apron that is breakable. After the apron is destroyed with a Power Blow or Critical Burst, the girls are left with the bikini, looking just like a usual swimsuit costume. Alpha-152 and male characters’ costumes are not destructible.
This is the third set of costumes included in Season Pass 3. The first set is Design Award 2015 Costumes and the second one is Tatsunoko Pro Costumes released last month.
This pack is available for all 34 characters for PS4/ Xbox One/ PC (Steam). Individual costume is priced at US$2.99 (¥308) for breakable costumes (female) and US$1.99 (¥206) for non-breakable ones (male & Alpha-152). The bundle set of all 34 costumes is US$23.99 (¥2592). Again, PC version is only sold in a pack and the destructible feature is not available.
Next month DLC is a 30-costume collaboration pack. The release date has also been brought forward to 18th March instead of 22nd March. The actual content is currently unknown but most probably are costumes from Samurai Warriors. The new character Naotora Ii and her debut costumes will also be released at the same time. A new stage is also expected.
[Updated 25 Feb] The next costume pack is confirmed to be Samurai Warriors costumes but the release date is pushed further to 29th March. New character Naotora Ii, her debut costumes and the new stage will be released on 17th March.
