On the day after Christmas, SEGA held the APM D-1 Fighting Festival in Japan. The tournament event consisted of 4 different fighting games, which Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade (DOA5UA) was one of them. At the end of DOA5UA tournament, producer Hayashi showed some previews of upcoming DLC costumes, followed by a short teaser of the new character for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (DOA5LR).
The event was streamed live but the 9-hour video is now archived at SEGA YouTube channel. DOA5UA tournament starts at the 3 hrs 30 mins mark. The new character teaser can be viewed at the 5:12:06 mark.
The very short video just showed the legs and front of the new character with a Japanese voice over, then a collaboration with Sengoku Musou (戦国無双, Samurai Warriors), another game series from Koei Tecmo. Though the face is not shown, it is not hard to figure out the character is Naotora Ii (井伊直虎) from the series. Hayashi mentioned that she will first be playable in Japan arcades. The worldwide release date for PS4/ Xbox One is 22 March 2016.
From the listing of Season Pass 3, there is a collaboration costumes set to be released on the same day as the new character. This is a good reason to believe that this inter-company collaboration doesn’t end with the new character. Though not mention, it is likely the last collaboration set in Season Pass 3 are costumes from Samurai Warriors series. With 30 costumes, this will be the largest number for a collaboration.
Before the teaser, Hayashi also revealed some costumes include in the Tatsunoko Pro collaboration set due out on 19 January 2016. Tatsunoko Pro is an established Anime production company in Japan responsible for classics such as Tekkaman, Yatterman, Gold Lightan and The Genie Family. The most recent one being shown is Nurse Witch Komugi R (second image below), which is a new TV series airing in Japan from January 2016. These costumes are reported to be destructible.
More upcoming DOA5LR news will be first tweeted on Twitter @ArtmicArcade and then report here in full details. Follow us, stay tuned and Happy New Year!
